Serve Wichita
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you ..." Jeremiah 29:7
For one day, October 4, 2008, the Central church family will go into our community and make God's love visible through acts of service. Young and old will join together to put our faith into action. We will give to our community without expectation of return. We will go the second mile. We will use our resources to do good in the city. On one day, October 4th, the Central church family will be the hands and feet of Jesus to our neighbors. On one day, October 4th, we will Serve Wichita |
Children
Christ has a special place in His heart for children and so do we. Our Bible classes for all ages of children focus on teaching them what the Bible teaches about God and Jesus and how we serve God and Jesus through worship and service. We invite you to join us for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Bible classes.
Periodically, we also have special events of celebration and teaching. |
Teens
Are you in 7th 12th grade? Do you have a son or daughter who is in middle or high school?
The Central Church of Christ Youth Ministry is:
- a safe place to ask questions about God, faith, doubt or life.
- A place where anyone can join us. We have students from 14 different schools, including public, private and home schooled students. Everyone is welcome.
- A place to have fun. We regularly have fun activities because, well . . . Christians should!
- A place to serve. We regularly serve at homeless shelters, participate on mission trips, work with impoverished children and families and help others at any opportunity.
- A place to grow. We are not interested in cloning Christians who think and act like we do. We want you to be able to use your personality, knowledge, background and God-given abilities so that you can become the person that God wants you to be. Our goal is to help each other grow so that we have a diverse group that is stronger because of the diversity within the group.
- A place to worship. We want you to connect with God on a deep level.
- A place to learn. We are not afraid of the deep issues or the big questions. We dont have all the answers but we are willing to search together.

L.I.F.E. Groups
LIFE groups (Learning, Involvement, Fellowship, Evangelism) provide a time of study, prayer and fellowship in small groups of around 15 adults. These groups typically meet on Sunday evenings in homes around the area, but are free to choose their own time and place of meeting. Currently L.I.F.E. groups meet from September through mid-May each year. Contact Scott Waltman at the Central church office for more information about a group that would be best for you.
Bible Classes
Central has a varied program of education available for adults at all times of the year. Our Bible classes and other helpful studies take place in varied formats on different days of the week. We strive to meet needs by providing classes that not only challenge people to know about God and His word but also challenge those in class to apply what they learn to every day life. (See complete listing of current adult Bible classes under the "Bible Study" heading.) |
Seniors
Central has a very active group of senior citizens (60+ years of age). You can find our seniors involved in every aspect of ministry at Central plus many activities that cater specifically to this group and their friends.
Bi-monthly Dinner
Another time to gather, fellowship, and of course, eat. This dinner takes place every other month during the Spring, Fall and Winter on the 1st Monday of the month, beginning at 5:30 p.m. After enjoying a meal together, a program of interest (education on senior issues or entertainment) is provided. All are welcome. Price of Participation bring a favorite food dish to share.
Game Day
Every Thursday afternoon throughout the year a group of Central Seniors gathers at the Central building at 1:00 p.m. to enjoy a time of card playing, board games and fellowship. All are welcome. Bring a snack to share with the group.
Senior retreat at Trail West, Colorado
Every year during the fall, a group of Central Seniors and their friends meet at Trail West (a retreat lodge) in the Collegiate Mountain range just west of Buena Vista, Colorado. This is a time for relaxation and renewal. Devotionals are held each evening, breakfast and dinners are enjoyed together (included in the price of the retreat) and many other activities are provided for the group on site and also in areas close by.
Widow Support Group
A group for women who have lost their spouse to death meets periodically for support, fellowship, and other activities. (Not currently meeting)
Widow Car Care
Service and minor repairs are provided for a small fee (to cover the cost of materials) to our central widows by volunteers twice yearly.
C.A.R.E. Calling Ministry
Volunteers stay in contact with our older members who are homebound or in care facilities by visiting and/or calling on a regular basis.
